- A Resource About Information on Chickenpox
-

- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- The statistics concerning chickenpox are astounding. Each year 3.5 to 4
- million people are affected, the largest numbers falling ill in the winter and
- spring. About 2 out of every 1000 patents will be so severely ill they will
- require hospitalization for proper treatment. It is estimated that this
- disease will cause from 40 to 90 deaths each year, astounding for a "simple"
- childhood disease. But it affects adults as well and they are 25 times more
- likely to die from chicken pox than children. These facts, as well as much
- more important information can be found in a new booklet published by the
- National Foundation for Infectious Disease, entitled "What Parents Need to
- Know About Chickenpox". In addition to describing just what chickenpox is and
- how it is spread, it presents a day by day description of a typical case. You
- can obtain your own copy without charge by sending your request and a stamped
- self addressed business size envelope to Chickenpox, National Foundation for
- Infectious Diseases, 4733 Bethesda Avenue, Suite 750, Bethesda, MD 20814.
- Those who have suffered with shingles, also caused by the same virus that
- causes chickenpox, will find material that will interest them in this
- publication.
